Stop the Abuse

Today is blogging against abuse. Why am I joining in the cause? I haven't been a victim of abuse. But that doesn't matter. What matters is that it happens. It happens more often than anyone would like to think about. Child abuse and animal abuse are two hot spots for me. How can anyone think of harming someone/something so innocent? I just don't understand in the least. My thoughts are a bit muddled and incoherent at the moment. I really can't wrap my brain around this and even begin to understand why it happens. I just know it does. And it shouldn't.

Class Project

So last night we got to cut some sheets of copper, file it, shape it and solder it. In the end, I got this beauty. It's a spinner ring. I absolutely love it and I'm just addicting to spinning it! This is the first real ring I've made and I'm so excited about it. I've been timid about trying rings. Not anymore! I'm ready to dive in and make bunches. They're so much fun to make.

Shaggy Agate Necklace

I was finally, finally able to upload this gorgeous necklace to Erin Lilies. The chain is made up of 18 ga copper in a shaggy loops weave. It's approximately 16 inches in length, which provides just enough length to properly show off the 28mm green and brown agate focal. You really have to check out all the pictures of it. Just click this link to see all the pictures for this lovely necklace.

Taking a class
I finaly took the plunge and signed for a metalsmithing class. And it starts on Monday!! Woohoo! I'm really excited about it. So far, I've been basically self-taught. I've followed the occasional tutorial here and there, but I really love figuring things out for myself. But I think this class will absolutely perfect for me though. I get find out all the things I've been doing wrong and what I've actually been doing right! The class will run from Sept 17th through Nov 12th and it's 3 hours long! It's going to be a long day for me and I won't get to see my little girl in the evening. That'll be really tough. But it'll still be good! I'll let you know how it goes!

Jewelry Photography

This isn't the easiest thing to do - take good pictures of jewelry. It takes a lot, and I do mean A LOT, of patience, practice and patience. I got my new equipment (a new tripod and acrylic risers) and I have been taking some new pictures. They are mostly turning out better, but it's still not easy. Each time is better than the time before. Improvement is good. Some of my bracelets are still not turning out quite as well as I would like. Guess I'll just try, try again. The picture here is of my Glass Teardrop Earrings that I just listed tonight in my etsy shop. This picture turned out great. Better than previous pictures I have done. But it's a never ending process!

Long weekend...
I hope everyone had a terrific labor day weekend. I know it's Wednesday, but I took a couple of days off around the weekend and I'm just getting back in the swing of things. I got quite a few piece of jewelry made this weekend that I had promised for a swag bag.
I've also been creating more and more because I have my first show in October! I'll give more details as it gets closer, but if you're in Alpharetta or close by, mark your calendar for October 20th.
